Accompanying children in the environmental protection journey

June 5 is designated by the United Nations as World Environment Day. This is an opportunity for us to raise awareness for the community and take active actions to protect our environment. Environmental protection is a long journey which cannot be done within one or two days. It requires us to have responsibility, patience and especially understanding so that we can act properly to the surrounding environment. How can parents help children understand more about environmental protection and encourage them to take good actions towards sustainability? Let’s have a look at following suggestions from the US Environmental organization (Environment America). 1. LEARN ABOUT PLANTS – Explore interesting information about the Earth, plants and animals and their current status through books, television and Youtube videos; – The whole family can create beautìul pictures with dried leaves and flowers; – Take advantage of the balcony (for high-rise buildings and apartments) and the open space (for ordinary houses) to plant a small garden of lovely flowers and trees; – Play games to learn the origin of the foods we eat every day and how they are cultivated and harvested. 2. LEARN ABOUT WATERWAYS, PARKS AND CONSERVATION The water, air and land environments are factors that need to be nurtured and preserved. Parents and childredn can research on many issues such as: – Learn about the system of rivers, lakes, canals and canals in the neighborhood; – Learn about water pollution and some ways to reduce it; – Explore the role of parks, forests and tree planting in reducing air pollution and flooding; – Learn about the role of natural reservation; – Learn about types of soil in nature and their current condition. 3. LEARN ABOUT WAYS TO REDUCE WASTE Waste is one of the most urgent problems that need to be solved

DO PARENTS KNOW? | HELP CHILDREN PLAN FOR THE FUTURE: HELP THEM TO BE IMPROVED INSTEAD OF BEING PERFECT.

Parents always seem to want their children to get high scores, develop well to become the best they can be at school. But in fact, improving themselves every day is the most necessary thing to help your child have enough experiences to step firmly in the future. Children not only need to be educated with academic knowledge but also need to have skills in self-development and unleashing their potential. From an early age, parents can help their children improve themselves from the following simple things: 1. Let children face up and solve their own problems. Not only adults, but children also face many problems every day, from difficulties in the learning process, pressure on grades, relationships with teachers and friends, physical health and mental health, etc. But not all children have enough skill or confidence to solve their problems. If not guided by parents, children will become timid, thereby choosing to run away instead of facing and solving each problem. This is also the reason why many children have a lot of trouble in school as well as in their life. Children who lack problem-solving skills tend to lack careful thinking in everything and are not oriented to what they should do. Therefore, teaching children to face problems and solve them will help them be more active in life, improve logical and critical thinking. When a specific problem occurs, parents should not help children do it right away. Instead, let your child analyze and define the problem. Parents can still be available to guide children when they need support, but it is still a priority to encourage children to solve their own problems first. If your child is having trouble with giving solutions, parents can sit down with children to discuss what should be done to be effective, so

UTS-ers showing their whorls with unique handmade table calendars

New year is coming and it’s time to use table calendars to remind of important milestones of a year ahead. With the 2021 Tet holiday, instead of buying table calendars at bookstores, students of Grade 7 & 8 of UTS could create their own table calendars of the new year. By their creativity, UTS-ers built ideas, divided tasks, drew and painted lovely table calendars in various concepts: the Zodiac, traditional Tet holiday, animation, etc. These table calendars may not be the most gorgeous ones but they marked the eternal creativity of our UTS-ers. The table calendars will be exhibited in a small area of UTS which contributes more colors to the Tet space there. Let’s have a look at lovely table calendars of our students!
