Parenting Workshop: The Bittersweet Struggles On The First Day Of Kindergarten

WHY ARE CHILDREN HAVING SCHOLIONOPHOBIA – FEAR OF SCHOOL? Kindergarten marks the first milestone when children officially step out of their comfort zone and enter a new world. Every beginning is difficult. The most stressful part must be trying to find a way to overcome the children’s habit of crying simply because they refuse to go to school. This “chaotic” scene may appear very clear to families who have children at the age of first-time becoming Kindergarteners. Always accompanying parents on the journey of nurturing their children, UTS understands the difficulties of parents before this turning point and wishes to help “first time Kindergarten” is no longer an “obsession” of the whole family. UTS cordially invites parents to participate in Parenting Workshop: THE BITTERSWEET STRUGGLES ON THE FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN MORE INFORMATION 1. Sharing topic: Explaining children’s expressions & psychology when they first go to Kindergarten 2. Facilitator: Ms. Le Tran Phuong Vi – UTS School Health and Psychology Counsellor 3. OIC Decoding – “Teacher, Are Mummies Real?”

Under the instruction of International Program teachers, the “little archeologists” have grasped the information related to the mummies like its “nationality” – Ancient Egypt or its “owner” – The Pharaoh… and accompanied by the “Little Baby Mummy” on the journey to find the Mummy through the book “Where is my mummy?”. Besides, UTS-ers have created their own “mummies” according to their imagination.

“King Of Vietnamese Language” Project

The inter-subject “King of Vietnamese Language” has implemented with the view to nurturing the love and spreading the language’s beauty around. Students have practiced the acquired knowledge and skills to use Vietnamese both in lessons and daily activities. From writing literary works or poems, they can feel the diversity of their mother tongue to fall in love with it more. With all the knowledge shared through the project, UTS-ers have tried their best to win the gameshow “King of Vietnamese language” and participated in plays, sitcoms originated from their own lessons in class.

“Inherited Traits” Project

The project is part of the International Program, which is an opportunity for Grade 4 students to discover the inheritance of their own and family member’s characteristics in English. Using the clay, UTS students reproduced different versions of offspring from “monster” parents by witnessing and identifying the specialized passed-on traits. From there, they can form a “family tree” with personalized variations and share it with teachers and friends.

The project in Geography in Grade 12 is one of the typical lessons that provides students with practical knowledge about aviation and transportation. UTS Parents Talk | The Key To Help Children Understand Parents Better

“To help parents and children understand each other better, besides respect, sharing is the key.” Those are the sharings of Mrs. Dinh Giang Tien who is a UTS parent, in the Parents Talk with the topic “How well can Children and Parents understand each other”. In the warm atmosphere of the event, the Secondary UTS-ers heard the “unsaid things” from their parents through the sharing of Mrs. Giang Tien and students confidently shared their stories and thoughts on this topic. The relationship between parents and children is always a meaningful and strong relationship, requiring a lot of care and effort from both sides to maintain. UTS hopes that the Parents Talk series will be a bridge between parents and children to strengthen love and understanding.

The project, which is part of the Physics subject, requires Grade 8 students to build the Hot Air Rotating Lantern according to certain specifications. The “Time Warp Play” project was implemented by Grade 6 students in preparation for for “Fang-tastic Feast” Halloween 2022. The project is part of the International Program’s “Performing Arts” subject with the content of recreating the “Time Warp” – a fragment from a famous musical that adapted to film: The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
