There is a famous quote from former US President Barack Obama: “Reading is important. If you know how to read, the whole world will open up for you.”   In order to make reading a joy and a bridge to bring students to the vast world, UTS organized the “Growing up with Books” contest and received positive participation from 53 contestants from Grade 1 to Grade 5. The entries received by the organizers were extremely creative, from witty book “review” videos to colorful comic books created by the students. The stories are extremely interesting, revealing the creativity and language ability of the students.   For the “review” videos, the students have summarized the important details of the good stories in a very methodical and concise way with their feelings. And in the field of comic book creation, the organizing committee has received many stories, dreams, and expectations of UTS-ers in many extremely new forms.   UTS hopes that the contest conveys the spirit of reading culture and promote the creativity of each UTS-er. For now, let’s take a look back at those memorable moments with UTS!

With the aim of pursuing a green lifestyle and focusing on sustainable values, the NEW GEN UTS project – an inter-block project had received a lot of attention and response from UTS-ers. With the message: “Let’s improve and protect the living environment around us!”, the UTS-ers had 2 months of working together. Students used their imagination and creativity to develop and select the appropriate materials over the first few weeks of the project. Under the guidance of teachers, the students transformed into “designers” to produce the costume that ensured the three criteria of “beautiful – strange – meaningful” and performed in front of the whole school. Each outfit has its own beauty and meaning with a common criterion of reusing discarded items. The project “NEW GEN – UTS” is not only a place where UTS-ers can unleash their creativity but also spread a green message, helping us to reuse used objects, thereby bringing positive impacts to the environment that we live in.

Having an in-depth knowledge of pathology is never easy due to the vast amount of information and requirement for high levels of accuracy. However, “challenge accepted” – UTS Grade 10 students still successfully and professionally overcome this obstacle in the English class with the support of Mr. Kyle Gibbons to create attractive infographics. Utilizing their “full capacity,” students work together to visualize data and pictures to create helpful infographics. UTS students are excited to share their achievements with friends and happy to get comments from the teacher. Especially, students have learned the value of taking care of their health thanks to the informative infographics with simple visuals. Let’s cherish the enjoyable time from that day!

Another full moon season has arrived at UTS. This year’s “UTS Full Moon-mory” season must have been full moon season (full moon) and filled with memories (memory) for the entire UTS community and loved ones.     Since many days before, UTS teachers & staff have already decorated the UTS space with a vivid look and “handmade” lanterns that were meticulously prepared by students.     “UTS Full Moon-mory” can not be fulfilled without these cozy activities: Kindergarten students made the mooncakes by themselves as modest gifts for their parents      How could we be calm before the creative fruit trays of Primary students?     Lanterns decoration contest of Secondary division was so eventful     The folk games were irreplaceable parts of the full moon season at UTS     These performances & Mid-Autumn Festival tableaus by Secondary students were so incredible     Perhaps this is the first time the Kindergarten little babies have been able to join the Lantern parade and taste traditional Mid-Autumn specialties at UTS or the first time that Primary students showed off their talent in re-creating the five-fruit tray. Or it’s also the first time High school students dressed themselves up as The Man in the Moon – Moon goddess to retell the stories they heard during their childhood. But indeed, every generation of students and teachers at UTS is charmed by the taste of mooncakes, excited when holding a lantern in their hands, and joyfully listening to the sounds of drums and bells calling for a lion dance.     Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the Children’s Festival. A beautiful life gives us a lot of inspiration to create dreams. In countless ways of expression, Primary students at UTS have brought their wishes into each line and color in the “The Dreamy Drawing” contest.   The preliminary round of the contest received many lovely pictures, in which 67 children with their “colorful dreams” have excellently entered the final round. In the final round of the competition, the “little artist” were extremely enamored with the drawing paper, sketching a drawing associated with the theme “Green dream”, conveying a positive message to the community about the awareness of protect the green of the earth.   “Art” is one of the things that nourishes the human soul. Therefore, UTS hopes to nurture artistic thinking in each student, and at the same time create a space for UTS-ers to express their desire at the “The Dream Drawing” playground in the 2022-2023 school year.   Let’s take a look at the great moments of the competition!

Literature, which is already a colorful subject, now has become more interesting when students can access knowledge through a variety of practical learning activities. With the debate model “The Debaters 2022”, students in Grades 8 & 9 at UTS not only have the opportunity to learn but also to express their viewpoints in front of the crowd and hone their debating skills. The final round took place in an extremely vibrant atmosphere with the participation of the 4 excellent teams and M.A. Nguyen Mong Tuyen – Coach of “Finding the young and talented MC 2022” as the judge. Within the enthusiastic cheers from teachers and students, the teams had thrilling debates on topics related to school and other broader social issues. Students are trained in multidimensional logical thinking and analysis based on many distinct aspects and perspectives to produce sharp arguments to protect their team’s point of view. The comments from M.A. Nguyen Mong Tuyen also help UTS-ers promote their strengths and build a core foundation of courage and dare to express their personal views. Having a chance to travel around the globe and see breathtaking sightseeing are everyone’s dream. Yet in the “Fun facts around the world” project, the Grade 3 students in US Vietnam Talent International School have successfully “travel” around many destinations and witness many marvellous things. This project has taken the kids through the continents and widened their knowledge about how mysterious the world is through amazing learning topics week by week: Humans and cultures, Costumes and Festivals, Nature and Famous Destinations all over the world. UTS believes that this project has helped the students to cherish the unique cultures from all nations worldwide. UTS-ers would experience going to many different places, seeing new people and broadening their horizon about human beings, society and life. As a result, our students can build up their intellectual capacity, stronger connection when dealing with problems and better vision.

Models-designing, picture exhibitions, talk shows… are activities that UTS students have executed in the subject of Literature to transform the literary values into practice. This time, UTS-ers have tried new forms of recreating classical literary works through the project “Theatricalization of Literature and History works” at UTS. UTS students have fully conveyed the hidden human values in immortal poems and stories right on the UTS stage. Every sentence in the work is personified through realistic expressions, dialogues, and actions that make the viewers immerse themselves in the world inside the book and run the gamut of emotions. The comments and encouragement from the “genuine” juries include Director and Actor Nguyen Truong Thịnh; Ambassador of Miss Sea Island 2022 Nguyen Hong Khai Vy and UTS educators have partially contributed to refining UTS-ers’ acting and motivated them to explore their own interests and abilities. UTS is very proud of your efforts and congratulate to the success of the project “Theatricalization of Literature and History works”.

The warmth of Christmas does not come from the furnace’s heat or from a cup of hot chocolate, yet it is widely understood as the sharing between humans. And the Christmas atmosphere at UTS has been mellowed by sequences of activities to spread out the love throughout the week. The music that starts the day, the decoration in each class, every donated item and the clear singing from Primary students are simply ordinary activities. Yet it has generated a classical, cozy Christmas atmosphere and conveyed meaningful human values to the UTS Community. Christmas Concert on December 23, 2022 has ended a fulfill and lovely “season of giving”. All proceeds from the Christmas activities at UTS will be donated to charities. Ruth Carter Stapleton once said: “Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” And this is the truest Christmas of the entire UTS Community!
